We BARS are now providing international aeromedical transport services to well or unwell patients with an aim to get them to their home country or to the desired health care provider all over the world.
To provide the best, smooth, and most economical international transport service to our patients, we will aim to attach with RedCross Foundation, NHS UK as well as RFDS Australia. It goes without saying that we maintain international standards of services.
Criteria for international repatriation
1. Patients who have insurance coverage have the right to be transported back home and can insist on
it.
2. For those who are not covered by insurance, a decision for international transfer will depend on
the following:
a. Patient's capacity to pay for our services (transportation + medical staff) till patient reaches
home country and ability of home country to pay for further expenses.
b. Capacity of home country governance to pay for patient transportation.
c. The home country organized expenses for transport to another country in situations of war or
other unforeseen situations.
International transportation options with increasing associated costs on commercial flights:
1. Seated (usually in Business or First class).
2. Stretcher (likely use of a 'high loader').
3. Patient transport by air ambulance.
Talk to our friendly staff for a discussion on expenses as it will change depending on location, availability of pilot, nursing staff, or doctor.
Medical Information form based on the International Air Travel Association Medical Information Form for Air Travel (IATA MEDIF) document is completed by the patient's treating doctor to assess the patient's medical condition and special needs (e.g. wheelchair, stretcher, high loader, oxygen, etc.).
Depending on their condition, patients need to be accompanied by a doctor and/or nurse. For stretcher patient's a medical escort team of not less than two people is recommended to provide the necessary care and manual handling assistance.
BARS reserves all right to approve/reject the transfer request.
